Yesterday I trekked through the jungles of French Guiana for hours, following spider monkeys, searching for caimans, photographing poison dart frogs, etc. Among these amazing sightings and experiences, one stood out - placing the complexity of tropical rainforests in perspective. This female tortoise was killed by jaguar, the king of the jungle - but the shell she left behind has provided a home for a colony of frogs. Nothing is ever wasted in the rainforest, and it never ceases to fascinate me.
